Book Binding: Spiral, Velo, Wire, Tape & Strip

Spiral Binding:

A continuous, spring – shaped piece of plastic which is durable crush-resistant. Spiral bind allows a book to lay flat …even back on itself for easy reading.

Wire Binding:

Wire binding offers a high tech look with outstanding durability. The metal wire comb is pushed through holes punching in the left margin of the document, then crimped together to hold pages. Wire binding allows pages to turn easily and the book lays completely flat when opened.

Velo Binding:

Velo Binding is made of individual sheets, punched with four or more holes near the bound edge. A plastic spine feeds tines through the holes to the other side and then go through another plastic spine. The excess tine length is then cut off and the plastic is either expanded or melted to create a relatively flat bind method.

Tape Binding:

Tape Binding or a soft cover book consists of a number of individual leaves between the covers of much heavier paper, glued together at the spine with a strong flexible glue; this is sometimes called a perfect binding.

Strip Binding:

Strip Binding is similar to Spiral Binding. However Unlike spiral binding, punching in holes and then using a spiral wire there is a thin long strip used to hold all the pages glued together and then the excess strip is cut off, the plastic expanded or melted allows pages to turn easily and the book lays completely flat when opened.
